As you may have already noticed, my blog is missing a TON of content today. It’s because I’ve decided to migrate my blog to a managed wordpress solution.
I initially set up this blog on AWS using a community wordpress instance. Unfortunately, as my blog grew, the instance became less and less stable, to the point where I couldn’t even post without crashing the server.
My plan was to migrate to a managed wordpress solution after the 2020 Cisco IT Blog Awards were finished. However, AWS had other plans.
This morning the server crashed again… multiple times. So I decided to try to try to resize the instance in AWS, and failed miserably. Since then, I’ve been unable to restore the blog, even from the old snapshot.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to recovery most of my writing, however many of the accompanying images are either lost, or will have to be edited again before they can be posted. As of right now, I have about 9 more articles still in draft mode waiting on me to edit them to be published. Give me time and they will be back. I am a full time collaboration engineer, a full time father, a full time husband, and a full time student. My day’s are busy, but I fully intent to restore all of the content.
Great to hear!
